Pete Richards

I forgot yesterday because I was doing grown up stuff... Ok, I was playing computer games. But that does mean we get a double quickfire today!

First up we've got Pete. He's adventurous with his pizza and drinks proper beer. His son's a Raiders fan though but for now we shall put that down to youthful rebellion

*******************************************

1- If you could only have three individual toppings on pizza for the rest of your life, what would they be?

My wife is veggie, so that makes me a veggie most of the time, so I’d definitely have salami on there, anchovies (controversial as that is) and a great buffalo mozzarella!

2- First Jersey? If you don't have one, what will it be

First jersey. I was very young, my mum and dad bought me a rubbish jersey, more like a T-shirt, but it was #12 Bradshaw.

3- Favourite all time non Steelers player?

Joe Montana, such a classy player.

4- You're in a bar. What's your poison?

True Midlander, pint of bitter (a neat, decent whiskey if it’s late).

5- Favourite Steelers play?

Harrisons 100yd TD

6- A song that makes you sing loudly?

Oasis, Wonderwall.

7- Player you hated seeing leave the Steelers?

Smith-Schuster, would be great to see him hook up with Pickett.

8- Best TV show ever?

I’ve just watched all of the Black Adders again with my 12 year-old son. He really got the humour, which made it a lot of fun after so many years.

9- Favourite Steelers game from the past five years?

Ben’s last regular season game at the Ravens was pretty cool, sneaking into the play-offs.

10- What items do you have in a fry up?

Fried bread, or black-pudding if it’s on offer.

11- Noll, Cowher or Tomlin?

Tomlin.

12- Apart from NFL, do you follow others sports and if so, what teams?

I follow a lot of sports, including football. I follow my home town team, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and have had a season ticket for a lot of years. I was also lucky enough to watch England win the Rugby World Cup in 2003, I was living in Sydney at the time and went to most of the England games. Amazing experience

13- Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?

Of course!

14- Favourite Steelers uniform and favourite non Steelers?

I love the classic, simple black home uniform, but the 1934 throwback “bumblebee” is also pretty awesome.

15- Tea or Coffee

Coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon.

16- Show me how old you are. What was your favourite cartoon as a kid?

Danger Mouse. I also had a bit of a crush on Daphne from Scooby Do.

17- Favourite Steelers player, current and former?

TJ Watt current, former is so hard, but Roethlisberger probably just about gets the nod over Jerome Bettis.

18- Which is your favourite, defense or offense?

Offense, if we’re doing it well.

19- If someone narrated your life who would it be?

I’d like to think it would be someone like Morgan Freeman, but as a Midlander it’s more likely to be Mark Williams (who played the Weasleys’ dad in Harry Potter).

20. Favourite draft pick for the steelers this year?

Joey Porter Jr looks pretty special. It’s been good to see him and Pickens going at each-other in camp already.

21- Current non steelers player you want on the team

I think we’re pretty solid in most of the marquee positions, so picking someone for the Eagles offensive line is probably where I’d go. Jason Kelce at Centre maybe?

22- You order a kebab. Pitta or Naan?

Pitta, old skool.

23- What do you do for a living?

I consult to universities, helping them with their marketing and student attraction strategies.

24- You've been out for a meal, do you have cake or the cheese board?

Cheese board, most of the time.

25- On a scale of 1-10 what consistency do you have your gravy?

If 1 is water and 10 is marmalade I’d be a 7.

26- Why did you pick the Steelers?

I think there’s a lot of parallels with my home town and football team (Wolves). Uniform colours is the obvious one, but both are working class industrial cities, both teams had fallen from grace in the early 80s when I started following NFL, the Steelers were obviously amazing in the 70s but were pretty rubbish in the 80s (and people forget that Wolves were one of the best teams in Europe in the 50s and 60s. When I was a kid and starting following NFL most of my friends went for Marino’s Dolphins or Montana’s 49ers and the Steelers were something different.

27- Does chocolate belong in the fridge?

Depends on the ambient temperature (fridge in the summer).

28- If you could go back in time and watch one live band that you never got chance to see who would it be?

Beatles.

29- Favourite Head Coach in the NFL who isn't Tomlin?

Sean McVay.

30- Desert Island discs. You can only take one album, one book and one film with you. What are they?

Probably The Verve’s Urban Hymns, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin is a great read, and if I could cheat on the film I’d take the entire Star Wars series!
