UKSP Post draft grades

Many analysts (including podcast favorites PFF) have the Steelers draft as one of the highest rated of 2024. But how do the UKSP Hosts rate the Steelers draft?

This plot shows the consensus draft grade the hosts gave the players drafted by each team. The UKSP hosts are lukewarm on the Steelers draft, rating it solidly middle of the pack in 15th.

The highest consensus grade is for the Bears, unsurprising as Rome Odunze and Caleb Williams were highly rated by the hosts. Nice to see that the Pats and Bengals are at the bottom of the pack (probably the Mims effect for the Bungles). Looking at the rest of the AFC north, nice to see that the Ravens and Browns also had negative consensus grades. So at least the Steelers had the best draft in the AFC North, even if the hosts found it a bit ‘mid’.

This plot shows the same thing (average grade for all the players drafted by each team) but broken down by host.

There is a lot to unpack here so I will focus on a few key points. First Mark was not quite so down on our class. An average grade of just over 0.5 means he thought we got good value at least, even if ranked quite a few teams higher. Mark was very high on the Niners, a certain Ricky Pearsall springs to mind.

Ketts also had the Niners as his favorite draft class. But note he liked the Ravens class more than ours! Looking at the AFC North, Ketts really hated the Bengals draft, an average grade of -1 on a scale that only goes to -2 is atrocious.

Gav was not a fan of the New England draft at all. An average grade of -2 is a bit suspicions, maybe there are errors in my calculations? But he is predicting Steelers dominance over the next few years, giving Cleavland, Cincinnati, and Baltimore negative grades.

On a final note, well done to the UKSP team for scouting 155 players this year, a fantastic effort.

Go Steelers
